From January 2027, Army officer selection will sit under the new Armed Forces Recruiting Service. It will be managed by SERCO, rather than Capita.

Briefing and Main Board continue in their current format until the end of 2026, so if your dates fall this year, everything on the platform matches what you will face. From 2027, the transition to the revamped tri-service selection process will begin.

While we have a very good idea of what the changes will entail, full details of the new process have not been published yet by either the British Army or SERCO. To avoid any confusion, we will refrain from speculating in public as to what the new changes will bring.

Once the changes are officially confirmed, Officer Ready will be updated to reflect them. Everyone with active access will receive those updates at no extra cost. This will include, if required, access to preparation tests for the Defence Aptitude Assessment.

We are in close contact with many of our existing users, some of whom we offer one-to-one support to, and will receive first-hand feedback of the new assessment. We will communicate this feedback to all Officer Ready users once we have verified it. We will also use it to update and improve our services, ensuring they are tailored to the new assessment process.

In the meantime, your preparation is not wasted. Officer selection has always tested the same things. Those are the skills Officer Ready builds, and they stay with you whatever the format.

The Countdown plan is for the final sprint. If you are attending Briefing or Main Board before the end of 2026, it gives you a focused, high-intensity month to sharpen your skills and test your readiness immediately before you attend.

The Complete plan is designed for the standard candidate journey. Bought now, 6 months of access carries you into 2027, and every update we make for the new selection process is included at no extra cost.

The Committed plan is for those taking a more strategic approach. Many successful candidates start preparing 9 to 12 months in advance. If you start now, you can spend the coming months building the skills that officer selection has always tested. We will add preparation for the new process once it is confirmed. You will then have plenty of time to work through it before you attend without the stress of a ticking clock.

We know officer selection is unpredictable, particularly with the move to a new process in 2027. Officer Ready is a training platform built specifically for British Army officer applicants. It was developed by Tom Moffat, a former British Army officer who has worked on officer selection and leadership development from four angles:

• Potential Officer Development Course. Instructed on the Army's own 12-week course that prepares serving soldiers for Main Board.
• Late-Entry Officer Selection. Moderated the assessment process that marks serving soldiers against the same standardised criteria as AOSB.
• Junior Officer Leadership Programme. Instructed on the leadership programme every junior officer completes before promoting to Captain.
